January 25th marked the 7th year for the #Bell Let’s Talk Day where Bell has continued its contentious efforts toward raising awareness of mental health and well-being. “Dedicated to moving mental health forward in Canada, Bell Let’s Talk promotes awareness and action with a strategy built on 4 key pillars: fighting the stigma, improving access to care, supporting world-class research, and leading by example in workplace mental health.” Burkevale continues to support the wellbeing of students, staff and the extended school community. Together, we can support one another so that we foster safe, inclusive, and accepting learning environments.
We can learn so much from kids. They give unconditionally and accept all of our idiosyncrasies without judgement. Recently, you will have received information about one of these random acts of kindness. In grade five students have been selecting projects for “Genius Hour.” The idea behind the project is for students to propose a question, research information based on the question, learn, and share what they have learned. Two students, Kylie and Tia decided that they wanted to know how they could help people with cancer. They have come up with an amazing plan and will be donating their hair to cancer. Let’s all get involved – be sure to check your emails to see how you can support their efforts.
