January 31st marked the 8th year for the #Bell Let’s Talk Day where Bell has continued its contentious efforts toward raising awareness of mental health and well-being. “Dedicated to moving mental health forward in Canada, Bell Let’s Talk promotes awareness and action with a strategy built on 4 key pillars: fighting the stigma, improving access to care, supporting world-class research, and leading by example in workplace mental health.” Burkevale continues to support the wellbeing of students, staff and the extended school community. Together, we can support one another so that we foster safe, inclusive, and accepting learning environments.
This year, our grade eight class decided to join other grade eight classes in the area by tracking their own funds raised directly toward the Bell Let’s Talk Day by tracking their tweets, chats etc. made at home in the evening. The true value of this day is the awareness and education the day brings toward mental health. This is an area where we all need to become better educated, as our youths’ rates of mental health concerns have been increasing drastically over the past few years.
